This past weekend was one for the books from Brunch with Beto where Beto spoke about his book — “We’ve Got to Try: How the Fight for Voting Rights Makes Everything Else Possible”, joining Planned Parenthood Texas Votes in celebrating their 10 year anniversary, cast my vote for Jett Hanna, Shenghao ‘Daniel’ Wang and Dick Lavine to the Travis Central Appraisal District (TCAD) board in the May 4 elections, and welcomed some friends from California to Texas State’s campus where Youth Save Democracy launched their inaugural Democracy Day event where we were honored to be joined by Beto in getting students registered to vote on campus.

Had an amazing time last night joining @colinallred for the Black Austin Democrats’ Black & Blues Fundraiser.

Amazing event at the first National Safer Communities Summit! I got the opportunity to meet and take a picture with the President Biden.
I also had the opportunity to meet other leaders and lawmakers like Congresswoman Jahana Hayes, Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro, and Congresswoman Lucy McBath.
I was able to listen to stories from survivors and community members on the effects that gun violence has had on their lives. I was able to relate to their stories as I’ve lost people firsthand due to gun violence.
One year ago President Biden signed into law the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act (BSCA) that was spearheaded by Senator Chris Murphy. The BSCA is the most significant anti-gun legislation in decades. It strengthened background checks, made gun trafficking a federal crime, and allocated funding to help states implement red flag laws.
There is still a lot of work to get done as this was only the beginning. Today’s event highlighted the impact, strength, and power of the movement against gun violence. This is a top priority for many young people across America, and I’ll continue to do my part in helping put an end to gun violence.

This past weekend, I had the privilege to return to Washington D.C. and walk the grounds of the U.S. Capitol Complex.
It’s only fitting to make this post as today marks the 10th anniversary since Former President Obama unveiled Rosa Parks statue at Statuary Hall inside the Capitol.
Special thanks to the office of @senchrismurphy for facilitating this tour for me after all public tours were booked.
